Good Notion
02:22
|
|||
Its always a good notion when you
are thinking you got all that you need
and the past isn't worth you time
Well its 8 o'clock and over tea
I'm thinking if you just let it be
we would know if its worth our time
Before we fall into that line, and we should take our time
A lover who's backs against the wall
there's three feet of snow he's two feet tall
you could say the he's in a bind
And a party of sweet saints round your heart,
they met me one night when it was dark
and they said "its not a good time"
still we fall into the line, and we should take our time
Its always a good notion when you
are thinking you got all that you need
and the past isn't worth your time

To Sleep, To Try
04:06
|
|||
Fall wind blows, but not for me, not for me
the night is warm, its pushing me, its pushing me
and I see nine stories in a row, so can we put on a show
and I'm riding through the rain, pushing through one more day.
So for three days, I'm far away, Im far away
with our skin on skin and our eyes towards the sky
and then, we're on the road again
with dusty shoes and songs for them
and my hearts engines pumping on, hoping for one more song, one more song
and I lay my head down to sleep, to try
and the drone of city chimes just passes through my mind
so many hours roll on by but I still need time
so I lay my head down to sleep, to try
Will you say that we should go another way?
or will you stay and pull the lights from the sky?
and if one more day goes on, then one more, would it be wrong to call you up and break it down so that I could know.
And I lay my head down to sleep, to try
and the drone of city chimes just passes thru my mind
So many hours roll on by but I still need time
So I lay my head down to sleep, to try

It Shows
03:04
|
|||
As lovers in the backyard
We beam and boast
When all the sounds lay dead
you played for me instead
We came upon the day when
you had to go
each day I bled and wept
for shame, for I was dead
It shows
I stand upon that stage now
with holes, they show
and every word I say
is fake, and out of place
It shows
Oh no, there goes my love
I can barely catch my breath
So low, I go my love
you're bringing me down
and I'm on a flight thru foul-weathered friends
and I wanna land safely and stand
Oh no, there goes my love
Go ahead decide then
you can't, I know
Thats why I gotta go
and leave this one alone
It Shows

Oh My Stars
02:12
|
|||
The Laws that govern chess and nature also govern lands so grey outside, and I've misplaced another day
Never cared much for the stories you pass on,
I know quite well your fairy tales have raised hell before
But oh my stars in the sky collide sometimes
Many cars and people make me want to skip town and so many blues you'll sing that faithful day that you come down
In a day or two, a couple notches down
and even at my best there's a pull of tide and a strain in pride
But oh my stars, in the sky collide sometimes

Clear Day
03:06
|
|||
Diving in those shallow waters to see
if they'd reflect me or just reject me
now its been three weeks since I have seen you last
you don't even know me so stay below me
Now I know what's really true
My city's always always fog the view
its getting hard to see what I did before
The devils working hard on me these days
what'll I do now? I feel like a fool now
so I open up my box of chocolates to see
which ones you left me and If you get me
All your sorry words have crowed the sky
we're all past it now and I'm making some time for
a clear day today, hoping for a clear day today
Yea my little soul has been hiding for weeks and I've missed it so, thru the rain and the sleet I want a clear day today, hoping for a clear day today.
Are you gonna come back and take the fall?
Is there anything left at all?
or just a sad empty phone call
I'm thinking back to a time when the sun did beam
years ago it seems, its only sunny in my dreams
and its getting hard to see what I did before
And all your sorry words have clouded the sky we're all past it now and I'm making some time for a clear day today, hoping for a clear day today.
Yea, my little soul has been hiding for weeks and I've missed her so through the rain and the sleet I wanna clear day today hoping for a clear day today

Brightest Minds
02:58
|
|||
In train rides to and from the shore
In hopes that I will see you more
I drew a line wen I called you on the phone, when I called you the phone
I walked a bridge so long it stretched over a river full of lives
With the brightest of minds and the murkiest hearts
where love is years away
And people we all have a place
but you're just may need more space
I miss you so,
but you're where you wanna be, where ever that may be
Will my fear give in this time again
and when can I be alone
with my brightest mind and my murkiest heart
my love is years away
I miss you so, but you're where you wanna be, wherever that may be

Cherubim
02:50
|
|||
An angel came to me one day
i was the only one who could mourn on a beautiful day
a beautiful day
she took my chin and said "thats why we don't stay"
But its what we do
to make it through
and its only dirt, its not so bad
and we'll find our way out there
we'll find our way out there
and with peace we find our sleep
so thats why we will stay

A Tree and Some Birds
04:14
|
|||
The white paint peels and the knee high grassy fields
when my mother called,
she knew it was time for me to go home
where a tree and some birds hop away
My heart is not my friend
breaking bones when it sinks to the ground
then abandons me when its feeling just a little joy
as a tree and some birds stand and stare
I see the best in you
and when I'm strong I see the best in me too
we're knocking cities down, one by one
with you're broad shoulders and icicle crown
as a tree and some birds laugh and play
Oh these birds
they say to you and me and oh, a tree, it waits
and it says
Focus on anything but that which makes you sad
cleanse the thought of your heart so that you can be glad
so glad
The white paint peels, and the knee high grassy fields
when my mother called
she knew it was time for me to go home where a tree and some birds wait for me, for me
Oh these birds they say to you and me and oh, a tree, it waits
